I told you it doesn't make sense to me either, but the q6600 record is on it...

Thats a bad assumption, that a board is better because of a record being on it.

Did they use the same CPU in both boards to show it was the best? I doubt it.

You can't say something is better if they use two different CPUs.

I bet the VID's weren't even the same.

There will come a day, such a day when all will be told more than they wish to know, what one hears may explain the past, it may explain the future, but it has never made a difference either way and it will change nothing. Some day.... But that is not this day, and I don't know when, I just don't know.

I said it didn't make sense to me either that in some situations the dk is better, no assumptions were made by me. But LT vs. DK aside, if the record is held on the board and it's still a fairly expensive board then I think it deserves to be considered high end.

Odd that you have DDR2-800 across the board... Is there really no advantage in the high end DDR3 for example?

Not much of a performance increase, plus DDR2 is at its low point in price

OK but surely with a top end system price isn't the main concern? if you're spending a couple of hundred extra bucks for ddr3 isn't it worth it?
I ask because I don't know, not because I think it is btw.

Its somewhat worth it, but you're really not going to notice it... In that case its the difference from 4gb DDR2 to 2gb DDR3, which would perform about the same..

Ok, but what if its:

Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45
&
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC

vs

Asus P5Q3 Deluxe Intel P45
&
OCZ 2GB DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz

I know the mobo's aren't out yet to its hypothetical, but would it be worth it?

Its really the exact same board, but I'd get the 4gb Kit of DDR2 with the P5Q Deluxe
