Quick question
Very quick q.:
If a motherboard says it supports Sata does it mean it also supports sataII .

I think the SATAII should have a jumper position to work with a SATA MB, and I am fairly sure all are backwards compatible to work with SATA MBs.

Any Serial drive will work. If it doesn't support Sata 2, the Sata 2 features will not work but the drive will work perfect.
