thats still a good choice. you can actually pick one up for $220-$230. they're realitively cheap. check microcenter

but there are a few quite cheap places near me so i can pick one up for about £160 - £190

well my current set-up is not so good, the cpu has been playing up for about 3 months the mobo has had a floppy drive error every time i load for the last 6 months (it dosent even have a floppy)

and to top it all the graphics card blew last night so its just on borrowed time to be honest so even a low end cheep build would be better.

current specs

mobo - asus A7N8X-X running with floppy drive error
cpu - amd sempron 2.2GHz running at constant 1.1 - 1.2 (locked on that dont know why)
gpu - ati radeon 9600 not even working it blew
ram - 1 512mb strip
hdd - a cheep 160GB ide one

everything is on verge or has gone caput

well thats no good. does sound like you need a whole new pc, stinks the q9450 won't be out for a couple of months.

its going to be a few months till i get the money for the cpu so its all good and in the semprons defence its been good to me till now

i kind of guessed it was a money spinner for amd but its served its purpose
