| Hi all, I'm looking to build a new gaming PC for about £800-£900 (sorry for £ currency). This is the rig I have produced, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Western Digital Caviar RE 250GB 2500YS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM - £47 Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - £148 Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM - £20 Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) - £88 EVGA nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - £176 Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - £65 EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS SuperClocked 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - £211 Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU - £103 Will also probably get Vista, wondering whether it is worth an extra £60 or so to get the 640mb 8800. Thanks. |

| Monster Techie | get the 640 mb version of gts, and get a seagate 7000.9 hdd instead of wd. also, i think you could go for the 520w psu, 620 isn't needed, but its nice to ahve that extra... get the e6420, too, if you want to save some dough.

| Monster Techie | Change ram to this: G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400C4 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) It is much beter than the corsair. That MoBo is expensive. Get this instead (unless ur desparate to go sli) Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard Dont get the superclocked 8800- IMO it is not worth it- just oc it urself. get this one- EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (320-P2-E811-AR) This hard disk is only £8 more- and you will get 150GB more storage. Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 400GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM It really depends on the resolution on which you will be gamig as to whether you will choose the 320 or the 640. |

| Thanks a lot everyone! Taken a decent amount off the total. :P I also read that running on BF2 at high settings, the 640mb onlybeat the 320mb by an average of 5-8fps, which is what made me primarily choose the 320mb. I run at 1280x1024 if that should help my decision. |

| Monster Techie | 1280x1024!?!?!? sheesh! that is way in the reach of the 8800gts, heck, a x1600 could probally run it at that maxed out... run it with 16x qaa 16x af and youll still probally get frames 50+ get the 320, save yourself money. why reccomend him hitachti, seagate barracudas are the best... get a ds3, yes. or if you want sli, keep the one you have now.

| Monster Techie | If you didnt already know: there will be price drops for intel processors on july 22nd. Quad core for under £200, so if you can wait until then, I would strongly advise you to do so. @that resolution, yes get the 320MB. Last edited by Vaanish; 06-02-2007 at 05:46 PM. |
