| Opteron 144 vs Athlon64 3800+ okay, so i have 2 processor here but i can't find the better one.
Operton 144 venus core, 1.8ghz, L2 cache 1mb, 90nm, HT 1000mhz
Athlon64 3800+ venice core, 2.4ghz, L2 cache 512kb, 90nm, HT 2000mhz
which one is the victor?

| Re: Opteron 144 vs Athlon64 3800+ well, if your talking in freqwise, the athlon64 3800+ would be better. their ocability is the same, and since the athlon64 3800+ stock is at 2.4ghz, the athlon64 3800+ will get higher freq.

| Re: Opteron 144 vs Athlon64 3800+ I had an Opteron 144 in my last build, it was decent. Get good RAM and a good mobo if you want to overclock it. That and you can pick them up for like $50 on eBay, if I still had mine I'd sell it to ya for that.
Plus, they have more L2 cache (1 MB), and something about onboard memory control (dunno what that is all about).
Like bmx said, its a server processor, so its got better 'stuff' built into the chip.
That and when they were brand new the were quite pricey (years ago).
