Default No more e6600

Hey all
ok so i wanted originally to get a e6600 and base my build around that. but, i also want to get an 8800gtx and i'm not too keen on spending too much... anyhoo, what i'm thinking is, i don't really need a processor THAT powerful, i'm gonna be playing some decent games in the future sure, but i'm pretty sure i could downgrade the processor somewhat to save a good lot of money. so, if anyone could suggest what I could change it to, i'd be most appreciative.

Also, if you could suggest a good motherboard to go with whatever the processor, i'd be grateful.

And the things i'll probably be sticking with buying are below

1gb Corsair PC5300 RAM
580W HiperPower Dbl Fan PSU
160 Gb Maxtor SATA HD

Ah thanks, thats a nice saving!

Now here's the question, is it possible to go EVEN cheaper? or will i still need a high end pro for an 8800gtx?

If you go cheap on a processor and buy a $650 video card, the CPU will most definitely be your bottleneck.
I wouldnt go any cheaper if I were you.

why not go for the e6400? it has an 8x multiplier making it a better overclocker, especially with ddr2 800 ram.
