i just recently bought a new sound card at a computer show the card works great its Newegg.com - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards
although i am not sure how to get my front pannel hooked up to it should i just turn on my mother boards sound capabilities again so the front pannel works or would that mess everything up?

front panel connections are for your mainboard sound so turning it on wont help. check to see if the soundcard supports an external addon so that you can connect the front panel to the soundcard itself

r the front panel connections usually a little 4 groove thing that slides onto a 4 prong slot?

usually but since your sound card is 7.1 channel it probably wont have the prong your looking for, its usually used for their own addon front panel they sell with their pro version
