probably not, but a 7900gt might.
high end 7 series is maybe starting at a 7900gs, and go thru a 7950gx2. subjective....cos im pretty sure a 7800gtx will stomp-a-lay a 7900gs. but not a 7900gto. lol its a vicious cycle.

just to specify the possible cards here are links to the ones i can afford at the moment:

8 series cards

XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX 256MB DDR3 SLI Ready PCI Express DL Dual DVI HDTV Video Card PVT84JUDD3 in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

Sparkle GeForce 8600 GT 512MB DDR2 SLI Ready PCI Express DVI VGA HDTV Video Card SF-PX86GT512U2-HP in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

7 series cards

EVGA GeForce 7900 GS KO 256MB GDDR3 SLI Ready PCI Express Dual DVI HDTV Video Card 256-P2-N624-AR in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

and if i can manage, this

XFX GeForce 7950 GT 512MB DDR3 SLI Ready PCI Express (Dual Link) Dual DVI HDTV Video Card PVT71JYHF4 in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

also, chances are im going to buy the card from tigerdirect, so if u guys want to help me out go there (to the canadian site so prices are all good) and if u can find me a good card it would help a tonne.

the 7900gs will flatten both those other 8 series cards, especially if you buy evga and overclock the crap out of it.
as for the 7950...if you are going to spend that much on a card, just get a little more and buy an 8800gts 320. 7950 not worth it...now anyways.

7800GS is an agp only card....

pay $150 for 7900GS
pay $200 for x1950xt
pay $300 for 8800GTS

8800GTS will get you around the same performance as the x1950xt but pay the $100 for DX10 support
