Default Intel's New Glory CPU: Core 2 Extreme Edition QX6800

Core 2 Extreme Edition QX6800 Reviews on ExtremeTech

here we go again, a new Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6800 @ 2.93 Ghz (i'm disappointed at the speed too) but unlike the Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800 this one is not the best OC'er in the world and a bit pricey at 1200$. Too bad we got a monopoly on these Quad-Core Systems, well for another 13 days anyways

But as I know the price of QX6800 is going to be $999, not $1200

The cost is to high for the most part and the heat sink is another $100 - $150. The performace and speed is not worth the money as far as I am concerned.

I have a Dual Core picked out for my most recent build, but there has been alot of talk for the quad cores. Would picking up a dual core be unwise with the release of quads now?

QX6800 is just a waste of money

You can get Q6600 for $266 and then you can overclock it to QX6800 speed

You wouldn't find me every buying a C2D other than the E6600 as you can overclock it plenty enough..
