|  I want to upgrad my vaio to AMD..... so i can run HL2 at its full potential. Its a 2.6 gig P4 with 1 gig of DDR ( i dont dont know what type of DDR) sound blaster gamer 5.1 sound card, and a XFX geforceFX 5900ultra. What do you guys recomend to buy to convert it over? Can i get links 2 please? Thanks |

| Your better off buying a new video card like a 6800GT AGP or X800xt AGP. If you have more money the 6800 Ultra or X850XT PE.

| Is it a laptop? I dont know much about lap tops but from what I understand they are very hard to upgrade. And to convert from Intel to AMD means you will need a new mother board and finding a new motherboard to fit the laptop that supports AMD might be hard. 5900 Ultras were good cards in their day, but if you want the full potential out of HL2 just upgrading to AMD really isnt gona do much, you need a better GFX card.

 | if you have the money, build a whole new system. switch over to amd and switch over to pcie if you dont i would say get a 6800GT
