Silverfury is on a distinguished road

Default I want a new video card.

And I need some professional help.

My mom is on her way home with a power supply that I bought awhile back (a year or so, left it at my uncles) I'm almost certain it'll work with this setup it's 450 or 500 some Watts.

Anyway, I want to know if I can handle this card.

Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N861-AR GeForce 9600GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics

If I can't, can you recommend anything? Any other cheap ideas I can do to spice up my PC when I buy something? (like add a fan somewhere or something, I know I need to dust it )

Welcome to Tech-Forums!!!

The 9600GT should work well. What type of games are you looking to play, and at what resolution on the monitor?

And what is the brand of this power supply, that you're getting?

9600gt is fine, might be somewhat of a bottleneck, but thats only at super high resolutions

1024x768 on a normal sized CRT monitor (18-20, people say it's pretty big, but it's not huge)

I don't know the brand, I'll update it when she returns (an hour or so) I know I bought it at best buy for like 60-70 bucks a year or so ago. I'm certain it'll power my mobo because I originally bought it to have the 20+4 pin setup.

Also, I'm a hardcore gamer.

I'm looking to be playing Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4 (higher frames), Age of Conan, Crysis, the works. Anything new and shiny.

The 9600GT will chew games up on that resolution.

I was asking the brand, because I wanted to know if it's a quality brand or not.

Have fun with your new card, it will defiantly perform like a beast at that resolution. Even crysis.

I am also looking forward to Assassins creed release for the pc on my b-day

Well, she just got home.
Not what I expected either.

A DYNEX 350 Watt Power supply:
DYNEX DX-PS350W 350 WATT 350 WATT ATX CPU POWER SUPPLY

Got a **** of a lot cheaper in a year, think this will run the new video card? or am I going to need one of those too? If so, I need a really cheap one, I'm already pushing my budget =]

A cheap brand power supply, no matter how much wattage it has, is a big no no. I would suggest this:
Newegg.com - FSP Group SAGA+ 400R ATX12V 400W Power Supply 120/220 - 240v NEMKO, TUV, CSA, IEC, UL, CE - Power Supplies

Even the one you have now, which seems to be an FSP Group, is a better brand.

Newegg.com - APEVIA ATX-CW500WP4 ATX 500W Power Supply 115/ 230 V UL, CSA, TUV, CE - Power Supplies

This look good? I figured I'd jump to 500 if I ever planned on going larger. Also it has 2 fans, and 2 12v rails.

Explanation: Qouted right from PC Power And Cooling: Power Supply Myths Exposed!
"With all the hype about multiple 12-volt rails (ads claim that two rails is better than one, five is better than four, etc.), you'd think it was a better design. Unfortunately, it's not!

Here are the facts: A large, single 12-volt rail (without a 240VA limit) can transfer 100% of the 12-volt output from the PSU to the computer, while a multi-rail 12-volt design has distribution losses of up to 30% of the power supply's rating. Those losses occur because power literally gets "trapped" on under-utilized rails. For example, if the 12-volt rail that powers the CPU is rated for 17 amps and the CPU only uses 7A, the remaining 10A is unusable, since it is isolated from the rest of the system.

Since the maximum current from any one 12-volt rail of a multiple-rail PSU is limited to 20 amps (240VA / 12 volts = 20 amps), PCs with high-performance components that draw over 20 amps from the same rail are subject to over-current shutdowns. With power requirements for multiple processors and graphics cards continuing to grow, the multiple-rail design, with its 240VA limit per rail, is basically obsolete."
