Default I'm looking to do my first build.

I'm on a budget of ~$550 give or take some. All I need is a tower, no mouse keyboard, monitor or speakers in the budget.

I would prefer to have:

CPU:AMD X2 (whatever will fit the budget and do the job well)
RAM:1gb+
HD:I don't need anything huge. (160 gigs will do)
Mobo:up to you
Disc Drives:A standard cd burner will work.
Video Card:something that will play WoW with decent graphics settings.
Case: Nothing extravagant, just something that will keep my stuff pretty cool.
PSU:~430W (I think that should do it)

Thanks ahead of time.

Default Re: I'm looking to do my first build.

go on Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

here are my recommendations:

CPU: dont know much about AMD, but i found a pretty good budget processor was a P4 3.2Ghz.
Ram: at your budget, 1GB will be sufficient
HD: 160GB sounds alright for the budget
Mobo: like i said, dont know much about AMD. if you go with intel, go with a nvidia chipset. theyre usually quite good for OCing. try to get one with integrated sound.
Disk Drive: you can find a cheap DVD CD R/RW for less than $40 if you look carefully
Video Card: go on newegg. for your budget id say any card at $75 is the best your going to get.
case: Coolermaster Centurion 5. no questions about it. best case ive ever used.
Psu: yeah 430w sounds enough

if you have money left over, spend a little extra on the video card. i doubt you could get a dual core at your budget, so stick with the single cores till you have more money
