| Okay so I have gotten many responses and have asked for build info recently. This is going to be my first build and I have had great response from everyone. But it would seem that my wife backed out of sharing a PC so i don't need vista. I want to build a High performance Gaming PC. Here is the kicker. I can now only spend $600 us dollars since my wife says we dont need one. Anyways. I don't think I want to do any overclocking since I am concerned with Heat and malfunctions. Once again if this breaks down or sees any downtime I will hear those Infamouse words "I TOLD YOU SO!" So I am again asking for the highest performer I can get for the above stated amount without having to overclock or do anything that may cause premature wear and tear. Either intel or AMD but I will need everything PS, Mobo, Proc, Vid card, No sound though, memory hard drive and DVD/cd player and OS. Please help, again. Thanks. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. ![]() |

| Okay I know what I said but screw it. Is this an okay build? Like I said in previouse posts I got that newegg card no payments for 6 months and I will get the money with a bonus or my usual tax return. So for say 1k is this worth it or what would you recommend. I apppreciate the searching you did for me invisible considering my request but it is better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for approval. So I am going for it. Any upgrades or changes. I am going to order as soon as I can so I will wait a bit for some input. But would like to order before Friday. | I don't know how much you can stretch but get something similar to Invisible's build, but you may consider dropping the 2GB to 1GB, and get this (link below) instead of the 7900GS. Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100186L Radeon X1950XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 VIVO HDCP Video Card - Retail Performs either better or just as good as a 7950GT. You will get better performance out of the X1950XT with 1GB than you would with a 7900GS w/ 2GB. Of course you can always order another stick of ram and move it to 2GB very easily with no money loss(like you would upgrading your GPU). So that would put you over $600, but I think it's worth it ($600 is a pretty tight budget). Not to sure about what motherboard, haven't stayed on top of that after I bought my build. EDIT: Well that new build is fine I think. (posted this before you changed your mind) |

| Forgot he's getting Vista. I'm happy with XP, and while DX10 is nice, not enough games use it right now to justify buying Vista. And XP Pro SP2 didn't cost me anything, if you know what I mean ![]() |

| No need to get the AS 5 thermal compound if you are getting the AF7 Pro. The AF7 Pro comes with a MX-1 Thermal Pad which is more than sufficient. No need to spend the extra money (yes I know its only $6 but its wasted cash) when the retail AF7 Pro comes with the MX-1 Pad. Also if you can hold off until 22 July you can pickup the new e6750 which is going to be a killer overclocker. If not than the e6420 will be a very nice alternative. The 8800gts 320mb card will be very nice card for quite a while. Other than those 2 recommendations I think its a very good build overall.
