| Hi all. I would like to build a gaming pc as the family pc seems to be getting more and more outdated. My dad thought that maybe I should build a really cheap computer using all outdated components to see if I can "do it" and then dive into building the gaming pc, whatcha think? For the gaming pc, I'd like to keep the cost under $500. I already have an 80gb hitachi hard drive, so i don't need a hdd. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. |

| Well, i could probably spare some more money, especially if my parents chip in. I've got plenty of time to look for the best deals, so if I wait for sales and clearance I should be able to put it together for less right? Are slot 754's worth it, or is better to pick up the 939's right now?

| I'm thinking OS: Windows XP Home Optic Drives: DVD-rom/CD-RW Monitor: Have one I can use Keyboard: Have one Any recommended cases? There's an Antec w/ 350w SmartPower supply on sale at fry's for $40? There's also a BTC 52x CD-RW/DVD ROm drive for $30. how those sound? Pretty new to computer building, so I don't have much of a grasp on what's good? Especially with motherboards, processors, and video cards.

| $507.95 w/o shipping, also doesn't include a hard drive since you have one and it doesn't count an optical drive so you'd need to but a cd rom or dvd burner or whatever you choose to get for that. http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811164040 case http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813157081 mobo http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814164038 vid card http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817153006 psu http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819103537 cpu http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820144310 ram put this together with your hard drive, buy an optical drive, and you'd have components you can overclock to make it even faster, you should play HL2, CSS, Far Cry, BF2 very well on this. if you do buy this check if the mobo & psu are both 24 pin or 20 pin, I didn't check that. |
