Default Help With Memory Problem

Hi guys, im back again

I had 2x512mb's (DDR333) running at 166mhz

Today i changed them to 2x1gb's (DDR400) running at 200mhz

The problem is that although my motherboard has recognized the RAM and its size (2GB) they are still running at 166mhz.

Also in my BIOS my RAM was recognized as DDR333

Im 100% sure that my motherboard supports DDR400

Why is this? Do i have to change any settings? I wen to my BIOS and couldnt see any option to change this

I was told there might be a jumper on the motherboard to change the speed to 200? Where is this?

Thanks

UPDATE :

I have tried breaking the dual mode by installing 1 ram in each colour but still my ram run at 166mhz

Here is a link to my motherboard : 939Dual-SATA2

And a link to its manual : http://www.asrock.com/Drivers/Manual/939Dual-SATA2.pdf

sounds like ur mb only supports ddr333 because any faster ram is backwards compatible in order to function in ur system.

I sort of had this problem before. I have DDR-400, in my bro's computer, and it says it's running at 180MHz. So all I did was overclock.

Could someone please explain what i should do?

What is "Flexibilitiy Option" in BIOS?
Please turn of Flexibility Option at all times, it's known to set your memory divider to 133MHz regardless of your setting in "Memory Clock" option.
What memory dividers are available?
Memory dividers can be set in BIOS.
In BIOS, goto "Advanced" -> "CPU Configuration"
set "Memory Clock" to

In this particular case of a CPU with mutiplier 10, i.e. 3200+
The available memory dividers are as followed:
200MHz = 10
166MHz = 12
133MHz = 15

You can utilize 3 more dividers using a tool called A64Tweaker.
In A64Tweaker, look for the drop down box named "MEMCLK Frequency", set it to
183MHz = 11
150MHz = 14
100MHz = 20

A64Tweaker - version 0.31 is recommended.

********************************
The formula for calculating memory speed:
MEM Speed = CPU Speed / divider
********************************

For example, if I OC my 3200+ to 2400MHz with memory clock set to 166MHz in BIOS. To find my memory speed using the formula "MEM Speed = CPU Speed / divider", my MEM speed is 2400 / 12 = 200MHz.

Here is the table for complete list of memory dividers. To use it,
1st. find the CPU multiplier you are using.
2nd. find the corresponding memory settings in BIOS/A64Tweaker, then you'll have the memory divider.

He had to change the memory divider most likely since it was stuck on DDR-333 speed still probably.
