Default HDD prob, help me out before i start punching infants!

I bought a new case and took the parts from one case and put them into the new one. It will boot if only my 40 gig HDD is plugged in, the one that has windows installed on it. My other drive, the data drive which is a seagate 300 gig, if put as slave on the same cable keeps the computer from booting. I have the same setup as before, it makes no sense that it wouldn't work now. PLEASE help i've been working on it so much and im at a deadend. Thanks in advance

If you want to mine coal, you can have one big welshman with a huge pickaxe, but lots and lots of mexican children with spoons will get you more coal.

Don't you have to set jumpers on the drive for master/slave with IDE? I forgot, been so long since I've seen an IDE drive.

btw I advise against punching infants.

The HDD is recognized in BIOS, the 40 gig is set to be the first one to boot from. The jumpers are set master/slave, the OS drive is master, 300 gig is slave and are plugged in on corresponding places on the cable.

I have boot order as CD/HDD/HDD. I don't know what else to do it seems like i've tried everything and there is no reason anything should have happened. Nothing was changed, just changed housing. And now they decided they were going to throw fits.

How do you remove it? That seems to be a good idea but i don't remember seeing an option to remove it.

Should be in your bios setup for boot order. On the third boot option select none.
