Wow, nice listI had no idea the 4850x2 was faster than the GTX 285!
This is a Graphics Performance Listing in order to help the members and guests here. The hopes of this list is for it to be the most valid and factual reference possible. The ranking begins with most powerful. These are solely rated based on the stock model and settings, nothing else.
Features still to be added to this thread include:
Mobile Graphics List
Future Graphics Cards
Recommended Cards
Legend:
Green - nVidia
Red - ATI
Blue - Intel
Orange - S3
Violet - 3DFX
Grey - Matrox
NOTE: If a card has mutliple variations of the same model (eg. a 512MB and a 1GB version), all of the position numbers are added and divided by the number of variations to give an average rank. This is to reduce confusion when purchasing a card as the variations in all cases were not significant enough to address.

I guess you never looked at the old list then. Its good that we have a version of the list stickied now.
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ stock
GPU: eVGA GTX 285 @ stock
Ram: 6GB g.skill 1600 Mhz DDR3 8-8-8-21
Mobo: ASUS P6T
PSU: 750W EPS12V PC Power & Cooling S75CF
Sweet, now all we need to do is do the laptop ones.. I can do that
I'll be putting the desktop equivalents for those when I have a bit more time though

Planned Rig of 2007:
.. But things don't go according to plan! My Actual Rig, 2009:
The 8800gs isn't in the correct spot in the list. It is identical to the 96sp (384mb or 768mb) versions of the 9600gso and faster than the 48sp (512mb) version of the 9600gso.
I think giving all version of a card the same number may cause confusion since they all don't have the same performance (ex 4870 1gb> GTX 260 c216 > Hd 4870 512mb). You alos have some cards like the 9600gso where one version is significantly crippled, in this case the 512mb ones.
Intel E2180 : Abit IP35-E : Corsair 550VX : Antec 300
2x1gb Corsair XMS2 DHX : Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Samsung 2494LW & 932bw+ : Windows 7 Pro 64bit
OCZ Elixor & OCZ Behemoth
OCZ Agility 60gb MLC SSD
I weighed both of those factors Puddle in deciding to keep the variations or not. Given the fact that most members/guests looking at this are not hardcore gurus I decided to remove them.
It does make the list easier to look at and much simpler if someone were looking for a card.
I can see what you mean abut it making it clearer because some cards do have to many versions that aren't very different. Plus in the case of cards like the Hd 4870 the rankings are still pretty accurate even when the versions are combined.
I still think it may be worth separating the two 9600gso's because for all intents and purposes they are two different models which don't even have the same gpu (G92 vs G94)
Intel E2180 : Abit IP35-E : Corsair 550VX : Antec 300
2x1gb Corsair XMS2 DHX : Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Samsung 2494LW & 932bw+ : Windows 7 Pro 64bit
OCZ Elixor & OCZ Behemoth
OCZ Agility 60gb MLC SSD
Counting thru the list I've owned 25 of the cards listed (some of them more than one) and a few that didn't make the list
