Default Graphics card update

I was going to buy a BFG 7600gt for £150 from ebuyer to go with an Asus A8N sli Premium and an AMD 4200+ but I was wondering if there were any that would suit it better or have generally better performance.

i'm not too sure how the pricing goes but would you be able to save a little more, drop to an x2 3800+ and buy a 7900gt? that would serve you better. especially if you would be willing to overclock the processor

if you are going to overclock don't buy the 4200+, it won't overclock any further than the 3800+ trust me. the 3800+ can overclock past FX-60 speeds. i'm not sure especially in british currency, sorry. search for it. it will outstrip the 7600 considerably.

I found it for about £250 which is a little over. Will the 3800+ get up to around the 4400+ range?

Well, that's a lot of OCing. If you want to OC that much, you might as well go for an Opteron 165. You'd probably want a 7900GT over the 7600GT, though.

the 3800+ will overclock well past the speed of the 4400+

it will take about a a 250-300mhz overclock to equal the 4400+.

if you are an overclocker then probably yes. i only bought the x2 3800+ because the opteron is more expensive here. the opteron 165 is clocked at 1.8ghz stock speed and the 3800+ is 2.0ghz. in some tasks the opteron will equal the 3800+ but in others it will fall slightly behind.
