So the 9600GT is meant to compete with the 3870s? Seems Nvidia is doing their cards some justice. Would like to see the competition heat up a bit.

yup. Looking at preliminary benchmarks it looks like the 9800GX2 will beat the 3870x2 by a fair margin.

Not surprising really.

Will most likely destroy the 9800GX2...but then nvidia will release some GT200 based card....so we'll see.

By the time that comes out, I'll snag me a 3870, because I really need a better card on my new budget build (already up and running). Cause even yesterdays cards are now like better then any graphics, that consoles have been able to render for a while.

The 8800 vs 2900 was a real laugh, but lets face it...recently ATI have been giving nvidia a bit of competition. The 3870x2 was the fastest gpu for a short while...and ATI has obviously given nvidia a bit of competition in the midrange cards like the 3850 and such...otherwise nvidia wouldn't have bothered with the 8800GS....
