plus there would be several factors with the overclocked list, like room temp, and some of the same cards having different overclock potential, and case fan positions

wow... imagine how different the list would be if it was based on overclocking but it might be hard being able to test the older cards..

Maybe it's because the 8600GT has more shading operations, than the 7900GS. But the 7900GS overall, is more powerful.
