get vista 64 bit for dx10, eg warhead , far cry 2.

yeah that psu should be ok is got 52A on the 12v rail. i did see that nvidia rec. 700w and 50A min for gtx280 sli, not sure how much 4870's require, but i rekon you should be fine.

great build!

EDIT: 600 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode, dont worry you got it covered. 52 amps be fine.

Your build looks fine, but why did you put Xclio 650w Greatpower when you linked to the Corsair 650tx

you'll need 64bit if u plan to add in another hd4870, cuz ull be down to 3GB of RAM.
Get one of the newer hard drives (7200.11 or WD 640GB (crazy fast))

you'll need a newer power supply...a single hd4870 requires 2x 6 pins, the corsair tx only has 2x 6+2 pins, xigmatek 650w or xigmatek 750w will work.

awesome HD
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

PSU's
Newegg.com - XIGMATEK MC NRP-MC651 650W ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V Ver. 2.92 Power Supply 100 - 240 V cUL, CE, TUV, FCC - Power Supplies 650W

a lot of ppl recommend this mounting bracket for the S1283

Even a Corsair 750tx from Buy.com will do too...

I assume he probably has 32bit, so he'd have to get Vista 64bit if he wants to see all 4gb

yep 750tx will also work, do what fits in your budget, i just like the modular cables but the corsair is an excellent buy.

Didn't mean to... I've seen everyone's comments about the PSU choice. The one below is the one I wanted. Would this work for 2x 4870's in crossfire.

And yes I know only 3 Gig will be seen with XP which is why I am going to try and dig up Vista 64 bit.

XCLIO GREATPOWER X14S4P4 650W ATX12V Power Supply - Retail

Does the HD make that much of a difference for gaming???

You're load times would be faster by a little, and you'd have double the HD space
