Exclamation eVGA Memory Clock GeForce 8800GTX HELP

Ok this makes no sense, the specs for the 8800GTX read "1800Mhz (Effective)" on the Memory clock Newegg.com - EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail

But when I check it in nTune its half that, at 900Mhz!
WTF did I do wrong? I plugged in both the PCI-e power cables and the card is reporting no errors...

erm run ntune and check the temps and try and over clock slightly maybe you plugged it into a 8xpci-express port halving the speed.

The 8800GTX uses DDR3 memory chips.
Those chips on board are clocked at 900Mhz.

GDDR stands for Graphics Double Data Rate - So effectively speaking if your memory is 900Mhz and it's Double Data Rate that's the equivalent of 1800Mhz.

On a side note... The R600's will use GDDR4 which has roughly a 20% increase in clock speed with lower voltages & temps. These chips will run at 1066Mhz standard and Higher... So the effective DDR would be 2132Mhz. But, GDDR4 has shown very promising overclockability.

R600's should own.

No...you're good. If you want to change those speeds you can use coolbits.

ntune is fun to use but its not very stabill. Go and pickup thr current cpu magazine and they tell you how to overclock your whole system. Its a great mag and a really good issue. They oc ram, cpu, vc, and show you alot of reg fixs.
