| Alright I'm actually trying to decide if I should let my dad's friend fix my computer by buying the parts through some wholesale thing he gets at his job but I wouldn't be there with him and I'm not even sure if he can get the kind of components I want (a nice wolfdale pcu, some corsair ram, ect). I myself have a decent amount of computer knowledge and I think I can handle building my own PC so I'm trying to make a build on newegg with $650. I have to be able to play age of conan and call of duty... I'm pretty amped about reinstalling crysis and running it again on maxed settings. Heres what I've picked out so far... Anything not on the list is coming from the old computer... CD Drive, Case, ect... PCU:Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Wolfdale 2.66GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors $175 MOBO:I haven't picked one out yet. I'm lenient on my GPU because I don't know if I will buy a 9800GTX or a HD 4850. ~$100 GPU:not sure on this one yet... either Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX(G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards $215 or Newegg.com - VisionTek 900241 Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards $195 RAM:Newegg.com - CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory $87 PSU:Newegg.com - Rosewill RP500-2 ATX12V v2.01 500W Power Supply 115/230 V CSA, UL, TUV, FCC - Power Supplies $55 DVD Drive:this doesn't really matter, I guess I'll pick some random one unless someone has a drive they recommend. ~$20 With those numbers that $652 or $632 depending on which graphics card I pick. The other 20 could be used to get a $120 mobo. I may also wait for the price on the HD 4870 to go down since I really wanna see that DDR5 memory in action. I don't really need a good SLI motherboard but I would like it to have atleast 8 MB of ram capacity and the capability to use some higher frequencies. My PSU is just something that seems appropriate but its not set in stone either. The wolfdale processors supposedly can OC to 4 GHz on very little cooling and they also have a stock 3 GHz version. | Newegg.com - p43 any of those would be a good choice Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors maybe look at that processor too, just a little slower but is suppose to be a great OC'er Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners $30 drive, but it seems to one of the best around it's price range. I bought one ( haven't got to use it yet though ). Last edited by wafflehammer; 07-06-2008 at 03:56 PM. |

| Renowned Budgeting Master | I agree with the E7200...a good choice that will give you a little more headroom for other things. Go with this ram instead of the Corsair Newegg.com - Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
