Default Best Graphics Card For The $$$

Well here I go again with another graphics card thread. I was considering getting one of the new 9800GX2 but I don't really want to spend $400 and up. So I was considering this card. Newegg.com - EVGA 640-P2-N829-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
I need a graphics card that will preform well and not break the bank. So what do you guys think of this one? I would prefer to stick with EVGA but I'm open to all suggestions and I don't want any ATI cards. Not that I have anything against ATI cards.

Thats the old 8800GTS, the GT is better. If you want bang for buck here are the cards:

nVidia - 9600GT 512mb
nVidia - 8800GT 512mb
ATi - 3870 512mb (an option if you change your mind about ATI, better than a 9600GT.)

Cheapest there is the 9600GT, around $150 and is about the same if not better than the one youve listed.

Yeah I was looking at the 9600GT. That is a good price. I wonder if I could play Crysis on high setting with this one. Right now I can play on medium with the one in my sig.

Now you got me thinking about ATI. Does this one support Direct X 10.1.
Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100225L Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail It did not say anything in the specs.

it does support 10.1 but its not that vital in any way

actually most of the new cards out can play Crysis maxed, but not with a consistent decent FPS

Newegg.com - Apollo HD3870XTG4-E3R Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

and thats a better HD3870 if you are really considering them, because of its aftermarket cooling solution, and the price drop
