Talking The best compilation of computer parts as of today

I'm just curious about this. I'm just looking for someone to put together a build that contains THE best parts out there right now in terms of performance. I don't care about how much it all costs, although it would be cool to know. I'm asking this because I'm plainly just curious (and lazy) about what the current best possible build is with the best performance.

^_^

It depends on what you want to do. We've had a few of these questions posed and there are different possibilities depending on what your goal is. If you're gaming then you'll use different parts than if you're rendering CGI or cranking out calculations or if you're doing scientific research on the effects of global warming, or just benchmarking. There are different parts that are preferred over another in certain scenarios.

Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Newegg.com - EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED "Overclocker's Pick" 3-Way SLI + PhysX 1366 Intel X58 EATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model CMG6GX3M3A2000C8 - Desktop Memory

best at the moment but somewhat debatable:
Newegg.com - EVGA 017-P3-1298-AR GeForce GTX 295 FTW Edition 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling T12W 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

There is a nice base for you. Have 2 x gtx295's throw in a few terabytes of storage. Get a true copper or go water or Ln2. case of your choice and anything else you want.

Do I want it? Yes
Is it worth the cost? No

It appears that all the dual 1366 boards don't support more than one PCI-e card so that puts my idea of a dual 1366 system out of the way, provided you wanted to do gaming.

can you do rendering on sli'd quadro cards?

Could you even Quad-Fire 5870's?... You'd need that giant EVGA board to even fit them all, IF they even fit on that.

They'd probably fit, but heat would be a serious issue.

Water cool your system on 4 loops. 2 loops for the cards (2 cards per loop) then the cpu, and then the NB and other stuff.

Theres a dual 1366 board and its actually cheap for what it is... Although it has PCIEx16 slots it doesnt look like (as stated) it supports crossfire or sli...

I think one would have better luck with the G.skill perfect storm kit

won 1st, 4th, 7th and 12th in the F1OC competition(Pi on P55)
(g.skill also took 3rd, but not perfect storm)

yes, it is luck, but I think there is a trend going on
