Default anyone heard of this brand?

Newegg.com - GeIL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10660) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model GU36GB1333C6TC - Desktop Memory

Is this ram good? or is it more of a lower end brand name?

Its actually very good if you find it cheap, usually they are a bit high priced and there are more attractive priced kits available..

I'd get them!

Personally, I'd get the OCZ Plats. DDR3 1600, 7-7-7-24.

Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory

Or for 20 bucks cheaper, 8-8-8-24.

Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory

cool. thanks. and also, what about SSD, what are the benefits of putting your OS on a SSD and having a separate drive for data? is it just faster boot up and shut down times?

And just curious, why would you go with the OCZ rather then the one i posted? is that because of quality? because doesnt timing make a big difference?

Well, the timings on the GeIL are lower because it's a lower frequency, 1333.

SSDs are really nice for OS installs, but they are still pretty expensive.

The load times for installing is a bit lower (assuming you have a good SSD), also your read/write times might be a lower too and boot up is lower too (along with game loading times)

But personally, I'd rather RAID0 or RAID5 a few cheap drives unless the SSD's got really really cheap

Basically, faster boot times, faster access times, programs load faster, etc.
