Question 7800GTX 512MB dead?

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28075

Isn't this Ironic?

It seems that the new cards can't seem to get enough of Samsung's brand new 1.1ns GDDR3 memory.

That suck. I was hoping to wait until Q1 of 2006 when prices dropped and pick one up. Guess I will wait for the G71/R580

so Samsung can't meet the demand ATM
I wouldn't say it's dead, just in short supply. and it's not Nvidia's fault.

That means people who already bought one will have a hard time finding another to upgrade SLI if they wanted.

Also now that 7800GTs are becoming cheaper would it be better to have 2 7800GT 256MB (2 x $300)in SLI then 1 7800GTX 256MB ($500)?

two 7800gt's would PROBABLY outperform the gtx512, but only on games that support SLI. i'm not sure though, dont quote me on it

That is exactly right. Benchmarks show higher performance in (2)7800GT in SLI over (1) 7800GTX ULTRA. And for $149.00 less.

The SLI Support is key though... good call.
