Hi, I have a 7600gt as of now and was wondering if this 8600gt is really worth the money or is the extra $130 worth it for an 8800gs er something.

For that money I would go for a 7950GT...or spend some more and get a x1950xt...or spend some more and get a 8800GTS 320mb

The 8600GT will perform the same in DX10 as the 7600GT does in DX9 probably

yeah the x1950xt great or even better u could go for a gts 320mb.
8600gt isnt really a gaming card.

I have a 7600gt

If you have 7600GT, then don't upgrade to 8600GT because you will not see any big difference.

I would get at least 8800GTS 320MB if you want to see a huge difference

btw I know someone who just got this setup:

-2 x 8600GT cards in SLI
-e6300@2.8ghz
-2gb ddr800

And got the following results:

3DM01 : 40500
3DM05 : 15023
3DM06 : 7871. SM2 : 3579, SM3 : 3058, CPU : 2441

Doom 3 : 1152x864, high detail, 8xAA, 8xAF - 71.5FPS

Lost Planet DX9 performance test : 1152x864, all high detail, no AA - 26FPS average

Which, IMO sucks.

in lost planet i got 15-20 frames everything maxed out including aa. may i ask y 2 8600gt
