Default Re: 650i vs. 680i

The main difference is that the 680i, has more features than, the 650i cipset....more expensive though. The 680i compared to the 650i, usually have 2 or more USB & SATA ports, dual gigabit LAN, SLI x16 compared to 650i's SLI x8. With SLI, the 650i, was shown that even running SLI in x8, it's equal if not better than the 680i, in SLI performance.

The 680i has a native 1333 FSB, more USB and SATA ports and an extra LAN port as well.

The 650i actually on average scores a few points and frames HIGHER than the 680i with a Core 2 Duo and cards in SLI.

I would only get a 650i really..

Thanks for the input, but since I won't be doing SLI, would I be better off with the 680i if I'm willing to dish out the cash?

No! If your not going SLI then there are tons of better boards....the 680i is really only good for SLI.

The P5B Deluxe...the Asus Commando....P5B-E, DS3 any of those are great boards.
