Default x38 or p35

i've made decisions for my new rig but the one thats giving me trouble is the mobo. I've seen both on newegg and read some reviews of them, but they seem alike besides prices. i plan to use a q6600, so i want to know what is the smarter investment. in your opinions. thx.

x38 with FSB of 1600 will support future quads. Also the PCI-Express slots are x16 and x16 while the p35 is x16 and x4. This means x38 will have better crossfire performance. If your getting the 3870X2 however, you can use either motherboards for and they will have the same performance Lastly x38 are suppose to overclock better as well. But a lot of people can overclock on p35 just as well as the x38

what is your budget?

what video cards do you plan on running?

X38, P35, 680i, 780i are all very good boards and all OC well.

you could get a Asus P5K. that would probably suit your needs just fine.

well if your getting a higher end p35 board then I would just go ahead and grab an x38 for $30 more. But w/ 1k I doubt you'll have enough money to get a higher end board. Do you need a monitor?
