I'm updating my dad's old HP system. It has a stick of 256 MB PC 133, and its max is 512mb. I have another OLD OLD OLD gateway pc, back from the 90s... it has a stick of 256mb sdr... how do I know if it's PC133 that will go into my hp?

Since it's old, I'm assuming it's either PC 100 or 133.

as long as the slots on the bottom of the memory line up to the slots on the motherboard it will in most case be fine. even if its pc100 it will still work, it just runs the other mem at pc100.

Should the RAM be fine? Or should I get a more popular 256 pc133 one?

it should be fine. if it causes problems then take it out..
