what kind of 6800 vid card?

i looked on newegg at the 6800gs' and about 20-25 come up, with prices varying from $95.00-$250.00. how do i detirmine which one is the one everyone is refering to.

Depending on the situation lol. Also, i searched on newegg recently, there are only 10 types of 6800 GS.

6800 GS will come in AGP or PCI-E. People normally will refer to the PCI-E ones.

Of all the 6800 GS PCI-E, it will be different in brand names. Many companies makes the card.

Sometimes, the 6800 GS PCI-E might be 256MB or 512 Mb as well.

6800GS is the one we are considering the best out of the 6800series

eVGA is a good brand, if not BFG is also good coz it has lifetime warranty

forget about the 6800gs get the 7600gt which is better and costs just a bit more http://www.beyond3d.com/previews/nvidia/g73/

Yeah take a serious look at those 7600GTs they seem to be better performers than the 6800's,
also will be a touch more future proof

how close is the preformace of the 7800 and the 7600gt?

im pretty sure the 7800 gt is quite better. But you shouldnt compare the 7600 with the 7800, instead compare it to the 7900, for its the same price and performs better.
