Default upgrading an old computer need help!

I have an computer that was given to me so I would like to upgrade/update it all i can. Here's the mobo I have Intel® Desktop Boards - D845GBV. I am running a celeron now. I would like to put the fastest chip I can in this board. After reading what
I could I think I need to update my bios. I downloaded the file but am lost after that. I ran the EXE file but nothing really happened. Can some1 give me instructions on what I have to do in order to run the 2.8 ghz P4 in this board.

ok. I think I found the instructions on intels support section. Anything else I will need to do if I want to upgrade to a P4?
