Talking Ultra Cheap Computer £200 ($400)

Hi
I'm gonna make a extremely cheapo computer for my room. It needs to be as quite as possible and probably needs to be upgradable. The kinda stuff i was thinking of getting were.

AMD 64bit Sempron 1.8Ghz 256kb L1 cache Socket 754 CPU
512Mb of DDR 400Mhz RAM
Any cheap case that is small but houses a ATX motherboard
80Gb SATA hard drive
Acoustifan Dustproof fan for the chassies and the CPU cooler
Already have keyboard, mouse, screen and speakers
NEC 3550A DVD RW
Cheapo mobo that has SATA and maybe PCI-E
A fanless PSU or a very quite one.

So all I ask is what do you think i should do with this £200 ($400). I'm not sure if to get a socket 939 mobo and processor but this will proabably cost me more. Also do you think i should opt for 1GB of RAM instead or do you think that 512Mb is ample for a system of this spec. I would like to have PCI-E but it's not a must. AGP will be fine for a cheap graphics upgrade. The main thing I am looking for is quiteness. I think that the Dustproof fans are the quitest and that 1 for the CPU and 1 for the chassies should be enough. I may stretch to a maximum of £300 ($600). So any suggestions people ?

newegg has good deals, so you probably won't get same deal from wherever you're from, but try not to digress too much.

what is it that you're gonna be doing w/ your comp? i could modify it more if i knew what your intentions are w/ this comp. i'd say this is best value for gaming.

ok I went over your budget by £42 pounds sorry :S but if you want upgradability Id go for socket 939 and too make your system at least decent a good AMD 64 3200 would have gone with the 3000+ but didnt have a fan with it. www.scan.co.uk is a good website for UK parts. Also there is no graphics card the mobo has onboard graphics sure its crap but you can always upgrade in future with a PCI express graphics card. If you really cant stretch that far on budget I could find you something cheaper but wouldnt be great.

Yeah thanks for the help guys . I was kinda thinking like the last post. So i've decided to get
athlon 64 processor
PCI-E Mobo
512Mb RAM (2x256MB or 1x512 depending on price) or 1GB (1x 1GB)
80GB SATA HD 7200RPM
Coolermaster Centuiron 5 series

And stuff like that but thanks for all the help guys
My budget just raised as well by an extra £100 so a graphics card may come in to it somewhere

ok good luck, and if you get a graphics card always make sure the PSU can handle it.

also check out www.overclockers.co.uk I buy my graphics cards from there very good service but a little more expensive.

$400? That barely buys the budget Dell PC.
