I am NOT trying to single this guy out, but can someone shed some light? There's definitely a gray area here and I'm a little confused. Please refer to this thread that I posted in the other hardware issues section.

XP will list it as a single drive. You'll see one drive, but the other one will be happily copying his brother.

So if for whatever reason I wanted to access the 2nd drive, would I be able to?

Also, something I always wondered is... Say I have a raid1 format and one drive dies. How would I know? I remember my one professor saying the switch I wouldn't notice... so how would I know to buy a new drive...??

Windows XP does support Raid 1
however I would go with a hardware RAID rather than a software RAID. it will be a lot more reliable.
