Default think i fried my mobo... HELP!

i was on my computer last night and i decided to swap one 256MB ram with a new 512MB. i turn everything off, unplug it then proceeed to swap the RAM. all goes good till i plug everything in and try to turn it on.I get nothing just a blue screen, so i turn it off unplug it and take out the new RAM. on the 3rd pin there is a black spot like it was burnt. i put the old ram back in but i get the same thing.

pull the battery from the mobo for about 10 minutes. plug in the old ram and reinstall the battery. it should reset itself.
