Default Switching HD Over...

Ok, I am taking this 80GB ATA Maxtor out of my old comp, and I am going to put it into this new build. Now, it has XP Home on it, but I bought a new version of XP that is on the way. I am wondering when I clear my HD, if I should just clear it into one partition or go ahead and make a new partition and let it format, before I switch it over.

it is really up to you man. no one can make partition choices better than the person who has to use them

As you wish! There are two ways to resolve your problem.
First: you may format partition with OS, and instal XP, but I there's a probability that you won't be able see another partition.
If you don't need information on your HDD, it better to format it all.
But if you need, you could make a backup of your second partition, and restore it after format and install new XP.
