drbgt3 Newb Techie Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 1	Swapping CPUs Can you swap out one CPU you with another without having to reinstall windows??? I am almost positive that you can't do this but I am just making sure.

Windows is strange. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When in doubt, back up and reformat.

yea just unlock your old one off the mobo, position your new one on it, lock it down, apply thermal paste, replace the heatsink, and your good to go. shouldnt have to re-install windows at all.
