Default suggestions for new cpu and motherboard?

I'm upgrading my cpu and motherboard because it's pretty old and slow, probably along with it new memory since mine right now are pc2100 i think.
I want my system to work well with the multimedia card I have right now (ATI 9600 XT). I'm looking for something to just boost the overall speed of my computer, gaming or otherwise.

Thinking of a gigabyte K8NSC NVIDIA nforce3, and maybe AMD athlon 64 3000+ with corsair or OCZ 1GB (2 x 512MB)

any suggestions and combinations would be awsome!

I have:
ATI 9600 XT
two HDs: 40 Gb and 120 Gb
dunno bout power supply if need to will get new one.

thank you.

Sounds good.

And I'd get the new PSU as well.

As said by Trotter, everything sounds good.

You actually picked the mobo that I normailly recommend. I own the GA-K8NS Ultra, myself. I have determined it to be a wicked-awesome mobo.

WHen deciding on RAM, make sure to read my RAM guide, which I believe is at the top of this forum.

As for a PSU, 350W should be plenty.

I'd say PC3200 RAM, and maybe a better power supply than 350 watt power supply. I'd personally go with a good 500 watt and use it for now and the future.
