Default Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX

Hi Guys

I have just been given a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX for nothing but don't have a clue about sound cards and what are good specs.

I know the Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX is a few years old but thats about it, I have just bought a new mobo and don't know if the built in sound on that is better than the older sound card.

Heres the sound card

Heres the mobo

Could any sound card experts advise me whether or not this is a decent card that will improve on the integrated audio on the motherboard. Or whether its to old and not worth it.

Any help will be appreciated, Thanks

onboard audio is really good these days, and i would think you're basically just taking up a PCI slot. What you could do is ust pop it in and see if you notice a difference, but my guess is that with the onboard audio you have you won't notice it much. and if you do notice it then just keep the card.
