Default Is it soo wrong...?

I currently have a computer that is in need of updating, but I am on a limited bugdet, so is it so wrong for me to keep some of my old parts from my computer..like the case, and HD ?
Cause then I could just buy a mobo, vid card, CPU , and some ram.

also, on another note, this HD i am referring too, I installed two operating systems onit ( I dont know why i was dumb). I have Win XP pro and Win 95 ( dont laugh) and I really have no reason for 95.. Think there would be any issues if I just dumped the 95?

It's not wrong at all and could save you a nice chunk of change. Just make sure the case is big enough to hold the new components you want to put in. Also, if you have no use for win 95 then why keep it?

No...it's not wrong to keep the case and HDD. Just make sure the case has enough room, for what you'll be getting.

Well when getting a new motherboard, you have to format the HDD, and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows.

yea, Im leaning towards an x2 5000-5200 with 2 gigs because you can get it for just under a $100- How much of a performance difference will I see with an x2 5000 vs an x2 4200?

Well the main difference between these three is the l2 cache

the 5200 has 2mb's total
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Windsor 2.6GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail

the 5000 has only 1mb total
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail

and the 4200 only has 1mb total
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+(65W) Windsor 2.2GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail

also , the 5200 & 5000 is running 400 mhz faster than the 4200. You can see in this link the different scores and times both processor's got.

CPU Charts | Tom's Hardware

Personally, i'm going with the 5200
