Default sata2 vs. ide Hard drives

Which is better? I heard people say that sata2 has no corrupting files unlike ide. I always get corrupted files with my ide hard drives. My parents computers lasted about 5 years with no ide coruption so i don't know if its something i am doing or not.

SATA II is better and the newer technology for hard drives. So I would go with that.

SATA and IDE is just a different type of connection. I prefer SATA, because the cables are smaller, and thus have less restriction on airflow in the case, which for me in an SFF chassis is a good thing. I believe in the benchmarks, SATA is SLIGHTLY faster, but not by much. They are about equal in price also.
