My girlfriend's Dell PC is ravaged my malware, spyware. I did as much as I could to fix it, but the PC just needs a new Hard Drive and clean install of the OS.

The Computer is a Dell Dimension E520. How do I know which Hard Drive to get at the store? Will any SATA Hard Drive work?

(BTW - The reason I am not formatting the old one is because there are valuable files on it - photos, music, etc. So we are going to add the new hard drive and copy files we need off the old one)

Be careful not to infect the new install with infected files from the old install.

Why not just open it up to take a look?
