Its for a HTTP server, I am going to use debian for the OS over Ubuntu Server Edition as I have a copy knocking around an I have experience with it as a server OS. I don't think i will be using more RAM than the 512mb as its only going to host one or two pages I got a much bigger server in the works for a much larger project I got in the pipelines.

I am going to be building at least 3 of them so if anyone has any surgestions or comments I am all ears. The larger server is still coming but will be delayed a short while.

Oh an can some one recommend a GOOD OS, I have been speeking to my friend who manages servers for a living an he said debian is good but there are better Red-Hat was one of the recommendations so I would like some 3rd party input on this.

I believe Red Hat is the commercial version... their free one is Fedora.

I actually recommend Ubuntu. Many of the server admins I talk to in my job love Ubuntu, and I personally like it as well. Though, a few of them prefer Fedora as well... so... *shrug*

I recommend Ubuntu though.

i'd get an opteron instead of an x2. may be able to keep it at the same price, even. or close in any event.
i'd look into the barcelona for the new big server.
