reithegenki is on a distinguished road

Default Ram upgrade.

I recently bought the cheapest computer I could find (still MILES better than the p.o.s. I built from spare parts over three years ago)

It is upgradeable to 2gb of ram - but currently only has 512 of DDR2 PC2-4100 in it. My friend who's father owns a computer store threw me another 512 stick, but I need to know if it is compatible.

It is Kingston brand... It says on it:
KVR400X72C3A/512
512mb PC3200 CL3 ECC 184 - Pin DIMM

Now, it doesn't say... but, I am thinking this is DDR1 and I need DDR2, right?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hey man,

Welcome to T.F.!!

The stick, your friend gave you is DDR. Your system has DDR2. Not compatible.
