NyQuil

Default Raid Controllers

well my mother board only has 2 EIDE slots so i need more for hard drives so i was wondering if i got a raid and just connected the HD's would i have to reformat my current HD's if i took them off the mother board and put it onto the raid

you would have to if you put them into a raid, but it should be just fine if you just connect them thru a IDE controller, but you do not have a RAID in effect.

hey thanks for the reply are u saying that if i use and IDE controller i would just like have to format the new HD's and then they just run as if it was a regulare IDE port on the mother board?

you should be fine if you use the IDE controller card if you dont put the HD's in a RAID.


But if they are going to be put in a RAID you will have to format them and resinstall windows.
