Default quick ram question

ok i haven't quit completely done my build yet but i was just think

i have 2gb of 800mhz ocz platinum ram (2x 1gb) with a gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R mobo and going with a 64bit os

and i was wondering if i get a set of 2x 2gb ocz gold to put with it would it work.

the timing on the platinum is 4-4-4-15 and the gold is 5-5-5-18 would this be a problem

and lastly what (if any) potential problems would there be with doing this, and thanks

Why would you need 6GB of RAM all at once? Sell the 2 x 1GB kit, and get the 2 x 2GB kit.

And to answer your question, it probably will work, but I can't guarantee that. I'm guessing that when you put the golds in, that the platinums will adjust itself, to match the gold's specs. If the RAM timing settings are set to auto. Or just set them all to 5-5-5-18.

thanks guys

i would have them off you but i aiming for new thanks for the offer though

i also just found that if they do work though the gold would run slower to work with the platinum

4gb of platinum ram would run good for the moment

*steve add's to list of future upgrade's*
