On a 20+4 Pin connector, the 4 pin part can be disconnected so it can be used with a 20 pin motherboard. The 20+4 will work anywhere a 24 is needed.

24 pin is the newer incarnation of the ATX power supply. it has the detachable 4 pin section so as to be backwards compatable with older motherboards

wxt38 True Techie Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 123	a true 24 pin connector does not have a detachable 4 pins. for the 24 pins with 4 detachable pins they would be listed as 20+4 pins.
