Default processor upgrade q's

hello all,

basically, i have no idea how processor 'fit' is determined for a particular motherboard.

is there a website that informs folxs on what processors are compatible with a given motherboard?

or, more specifically...

i have a sony PCG-FX150 that i'd like to bring somewhat up to date. i'm looking into getting the most advanced/newest motherboard that fits this type of notebook (the MBX-49) and thus make it possible to upgrade the CPU along the way. i know that some units (for example, the PCG-FXA48) that use this motherboard use 1.2ghz athlon processors which would be a vast improvement over my P3 750 mhz. question is though, what else fits the MBX-49, can i push beyond 1.2ghz?

TIA

To answer your question, A AMD 64 processor is socket 939. and you have to find a socket 939 motherboard. A AMD 64 3500 socket 939 is compatible with a DFI lanparty SLI-D socket 939 motherboard.

But anyway. Laptops are not for upgrading.

The pin number of the processor matches the pin number of the socket.
