Preparing Hard Drive

I am about to install the operating system, XP Pro x64, on my new build. The hard drive is blank. Is there anything that I need to do to the new Western Digital hard drive before I install the OS?

I always format, at least a quick format, even on new drives, I have no idea why, but it can't hurt.

Very true it's not going to hurt anything. Might want to do that just cause but either way you should be fine.

will work 100% windows setup will partition it for you and then give you the option to quick format or full format, either is good.
